WHEN: Two Tuesdays a month at 6:00 p.m. (during the school year). Check the calendar for the next meeting.
WHERE: Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106 N Riverside Dr, Indialantic, FL 32903
Parents and Leaders Meeting
Playdate & socialization for the kids, and business meeting for adults! Feel free to come either with or without your kids. We need everyone's help to keep this going! If there's any trips you want to do or ideas about what you want to change up, this is your chance.
Cub Holiday at Camp La-No-Che
As a Pack, we are planning to attend Cub Holiday at Camp La-No-Che on December 6-8. Register at https://scoutingevent.com/083-CubHoliday, Select Unit "Pack 3380 Family" and we will be placed in a group campsite together. The cost is high to Camp at La-No-Che, but it is a picturesque BSA camp site with non-stop fun planned for us. The price goes up after 11/6: $40/Scout, $18/Adult, You can also buy a T-shirt for $19.
Your family brings your own camping gear and joins the action packed event where activities are led by camp employees. The Pack will not provide meals. Our family likes to bring an easy dinner like sandwiches Friday, then we purchase the $32/3 Meal Meal Option to eat together in the cafeteria on Saturday. Then we have a light/snacky breakfast on our way out on Sunday.
If you want to make it cheaper, you can plan to bring your own meals and skip the t-shirt. If this is too expensive for your family, please help us plan our next fundraiser to pay your way next time.
Shooting Sports
There will be a chance for youth to practice Shooting Sports (Slingshot, Archery and BBs) at Council and District events throughout the year. Events are lead by trained rangemasters who teach Scouts how to use equipment safely. If you have a special interest in shooting sports, you can volunteer to be trained as a Rangemaster.
Melbourne Beach Holiday Parade
We will have fun walking, smiling, waving, and handing out candy in the Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department Children’s Christmas Parade on December 14th. The parade starts at 9:00 a,m. We will have a large bucket of candy for members of our group to hand to parade spectators. Wear your uniform with festive accessories if you have them.
Pack Campouts
These are fun events where Cub Scouts work on outdoor skills and have fun with their friends outdoors. We go to a group campsite, eat meals as a group, enjoy a campfire together, and sleep in tents with our families. Extra fees are minimal to cover costs of site reservation, supplies, and meals. We need adult volunteers to pull the trailer, organize meals, and plan activities to do Pack Campouts.
Scout Days at Daytona
Enjoy 2 nights of camping with thousands of scouts from across the nation in Daytona International Speedway’s iconic infield the third week of January at a special event for Scouts. Your family will have a unique experience as we watch the preparation for the running of the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA. In 2024 it was $30 per ticket for early birds and $40 per ticket if you signed up after the deadline. There were races going on through out the weekend, track walk on Saturday morning, garage tour, tram tour, Pinewood Derby Sunday morning. We will need a volunteer to take the lead on organizing tickets for our group in 2025 if we wish to attend.
In January we will give you an official Pinewood Derby kit. You can have fun designing and decorating your car with paint, decals and other accessories. You strategically add weight to your car to make it weigh 5.0 ounces to compete in the Derby. Then at the Derby we do our best and cheer for our friends. More info here.
The first, second, and third place winners from each den in our Pack Derby will be invited to the District Pinewood Derby at the American Muscle Car Museum.
Scout Sunday
On a Sunday in February, Eastminster Presbyterian Church will invite Cub Scout Families to a service to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. Scouts that participate earn a special collectors' emblem.
Blue and Gold Banquet
Blue and Gold Banquets are a tradition in Cub Scout packs. They are a celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the BSA on February 8, 1910. Volunteers pick a theme. Sometimes we hire an entertainer. In 2024 it was during the Pinewood Derby,
Camp Card Fundraiser
Selling camp cards is an easy, no risk way to teach Cub Scouts the value of "earning their way." Camp Cards are discount cards to various businesses in the Central Florida Council service area. Camp Cards sold for $10 each in 2023. Last time we asked each scout to sell at least 5 of them to help our Pack. Scouts got $1.50 commission per card in their Scout Account to use toward Scouting fees, extra prizes if they sold more.
Raingutter Regatta
The kids had a great time at the pack meeting where we built boats out of recycled materials and raced them! At another pack meeting we made boats out of aluminum foil. We have the rain gutters in storage, so we will do it again sometime.
Summer Camps
Cub Scout Camp offers all Scouts a fun, exciting, and productive week of Scouting for boys and girls entering 1st through 5th grade. The week will be a fun-filled week with a focus on Outdoor Adventures!
Day Camp in Riverside District is usually the first week of June.
To attend resident camp, all participants must bring Health Forms A, B and Part C. For Part C, you have to have a physical exam and get it signed by a doctor.
ANNUAL EVENTS
Scouting For Food
Part of Cub Scouts is that we do service projects for our Citizenship Adventure. “Scouting for Food” is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. It began as a Scout’s service project in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1985. The goal is to help feed those in need in all of our communities. In 2024 our pack collected 100 grocery bags full of food for the food bank.
First Saturday in November - 9:00 a.m. meet to get empty plastic grocery bags and be assigned to a neighborhood between Paradise and 192 to distribute door to door in Indialantic.
Second Saturday in November - 9:00 a.m. meet to be assigned to return to a neighborhood between Paradise and 192 in Indialantic to pick up filled plastic grocery bags. Return the collected bags to Eastminster by 10:30 for a couple of cars to count up and deliver to Daily Bread Food Bank, 1408 Morningside Dr., Melbourne, FL 32901 (10am-1pm).
Webelos Woods
On the weekend of November 15th-17th, 2024, 4th and 5th Graders attended this FREE event for weekend camping or day-only attendance. This weekend was an action-packed chance for Webelos and AOLs to interact with the Scout Troops of Riverside District. Saturday was full of learning or sharpening of scout skills, functioning as a patrol, parent training, competitions, games, troop visitations, and good old-fashioned Scout Fun.
POSSIBLE EVENTS
Volunteers plan everything our group does. If you have an interest in a certain activity, you could help your Den or Pack get a group package for a unique experience. Please let us know what you would like to help with this year at cspack380@gmail.com.
